PHYSICIAN LASER HAIR REMOVAL SPECIALISTS

Now You Can Eliminate Unwanted Facial or Body Hair Once And For All!

If you're looking for a comfortable, effective way to remove unwanted facial or body hair, you owe it to yourself to consider Laser Hair Removal. With a gentle beam of light, you can achieve lasting, permanent hair reduction on virtually any part of your body, leaving you with smooth, hair-free skin. At Phoenix Ob Gyn, we offer you a procedure that's leading the way in laser hair removal.

The lasers at Phoenix Ob Gyn quickly and easily remove undesirable hair from the face, upper lip, chin, underarms, shoulders, lower legs, thighs, bikini line, back, chest or abdomen. While Laser Hair Removal was once limited to light skin and dark hair, advances in technology allow us to successfully treat white, gray and blond hair as well as all skin colors.

Our mission is to bring the world's best solutions for unwanted hair to you in a safe, comfortable environment, at affordable fees. Whether it's face, underarms, bikini, legs, back, shoulders, chest, or abs:

Laser Hair Removal has the answer! If you're like most women, you enjoy feeling confident and looking your best, but sometimes unwanted facial or body hair can make that difficult. You may be surprised to learn that more than eighty million men and women just like you struggle with the frustration of unwanted hair and to deal with this problem, many have resorted to costly and painful electrolysis treatments while others spend hours shaving, waxing, tweezing and using messy creams only to see hair reappear within weeks. Advances in laser science now provide an excellent alternative to earlier, more difficult methods of hair removal.

Phoenix Ob Gyn will develop a treatment program for each patient that targets each anatomical area of the body being treated during the window of time most effective for hair removal. Our laser system allows hair to gently be removed from your lip, chin and bikini area, as well as your arms legs, back and shoulders. You will not feel the need to wax, shave, tweeze or use depilatories ever again. With our process, you will not feel the need to go through treatments that are painful, inconvenient and temporary. Lasers have become the most effective method for the rapid, gentle removal of unwanted hair. It's a simple process with striking results.

Before you can fully understand the process of Laser Hair Removal, you need to know a few things about hair itself. To begin with, many things influence hair growth-your age, ethnicity, weight, metabolism, medication, and hormones… each play a role in your hair's resilience, thickness and areas of growth. Also, your hair grows in cycles-the active or growth (Anagen) phase, the dormant (Catagen) phase, and the fall-out (Telogen) phase. Medical science has determined that the laser effectively treats only the hair in the Anagen (growth) phase, and different areas of the body have different growth cycles. The heat generated from the laser light seals off the blood vessels to these active hairs. Therefore we must treat each at the specific time it's in the growth phase for the treatment to be effective. Areas of unwanted hair are treated with a focused beam of concentrated laser light which is selectively absorbed by the melanin in the hair, as well as in the surrounding hair follicle. This causes thermal destruction of these hair follicles and disrupts their ability to regenerate, resulting in permanent hair reduction. Unlike electrolysis, which kills one hair follicle at a time, the laser reaches and treats hundreds of follicles at a time.

Benefits of Laser Hair Removal over Other Treatments:

  • Relatively painless, especially when compared with electrolysis or waxing.
  • Fast, unlike electrolysis.
  • Long Term, unlike shaving, tweezing or waxing.
  • Leaves no scarring when performed by qualified professionals.

Lasers are precise instruments that can be adjusted to the exact parameters that will specifically disable the hair follicle. The laser uses a wide beam that treats many hairs at once instead of treating hair-by-hair like electrolysis. Because of this, large areas such as legs, arms, or backs can be treated in a short amount of time. Results will be seen that last far longer than tweezing, waxing, shaving, chemical depilation, or other temporary treatments.

  • How does the laser remove hair?

The laser emits a very specific light beam that is absorbed by the pigment located in the hair follicle. The laser is pulsed, or "turned on", for a fraction of a second. The duration of the pulses have been carefully determined so that the energy will be absorbed by the hair follicle to disable it but not long enough that excess heat is transferred to the surrounding skin, resulting in safe and effective hair removal.

  • How long will it take?

Because the laser treats many hairs at a time, facial areas (lip, chin, etc.) can be treated in 5-10 minutes. Small body areas (underarms, bikini, etc.) take less than 15 minutes. Larger body areas (full back, legs, arms. etc.) usually take about 30 to 60 minutes depending on the size of the area.

  • Does it hurt?

While some areas can be more sensitive than others, most individuals describe the feeling as a slight stinging or tingling sensation. The sensation lasts only a few minutes. If needed, patients can also use a topical anesthetic.

  • How many treatments will I need?

The laser works by disabling hairs that are in their active growth cycle at the time of treatment. Since other hairs will enter their growth cycles at different times, an average of 4-6 treatments will be necessary to disable all of the follicles in a given area.

  • What happens to the skin after the treatment?

Within several minutes of the treatment, the treated area may become slightly red. This reaction subsides within a few minutes to a few hours and the area returns to normal. Since the laser does not burn or cut the skin in any way, no bandages are necessary. You are able to reapply your make-up, return to work, and continue with your normal daily activities.

  • Is laser hair removal permanent?

Studies show that after an average of 5 treatments, most patients no longer have a need to continue treatment.

Treatment Instructions

Before Treatment

  • No waxing, tweezing, bleaching, depilatories or electrolysis prior to treatment. Shaving is fine and does not effect treatment.
  • The area to be treated should be shaved 1-2 days before treatment.
  • For two weeks prior to treatment, you should not allow the area to be exposed to sun or tanning beds.

Day of Treatment

  • Prior to treatment, the nurse will have you remove any deodorant, powder and makeup on the areas to be treated.
  • The laser treats many hairs at a time, enabling short treatment sessions. Depending on the size of the treatment area, a session may last between ten minutes (lip, chin, etc.) and 60 minutes (back, legs, etc.)
  • When the laser pulses over your skin, you will feel a momentary, slight stinging or tingling sensation. The sensation disappears the moment the laser stops pulsing. For those with more sensitive skin, you can buy a topical anesthetic that can be applied prior to treatment.
  • Immediately following laser treatment, you may experience redness, similar to mild sunburn. These normal tissue responses are temporary and will usually disappear over the next few hours.

After Treatment

  • Immediately following treatment (12-24 hours) treat the area gently.
  • Avoid rubbing, scratching or picking at the treated area.
  • Avoid very hot showers, baths, soaking in a hot tub or swimming in a chlorinated pool. Pat the skin dry after bathing or showering.
  • As soon as the mild redness from the day's treatment subsides, patients may resume normal daily activities, excluding intense exercise. You must avoid sweating.
  • The treated hairs will not fall out right away. It can take up to three weeks for the hair to fall away. This process can be helped along by gentle use of a washcloth or loofa sponge four to five days after treatment.
