Clinical Research Experience
Since 1999, PHOENIX has participated in Phase II-IV
research studies in areas as varied as estrogen replacement therapy,
overactive bladder, breast pain, heavy menstrual bleeding, post-menopausal
symptoms, decreased libido, uterine fibroids, osteoporosis prevention,
vaginal infections, contraception, endometriosis, and other obstetric
and gynecologic states. We have worked with most of the major pharmaceutical
companies.
Clinical Trial Process
Through Clinical Trials, the FDA allows pharmaceutical companies to
test new drugs and devices. As part of our commitment to women’s
health, we are uniquely qualified to offer these Trials to our patients. PHOENIX is
one of a few private Ob-Gyn practices in South Jersey that participates
in Clinical Trials.
The process of participation in a Clinical trial is simple. After learning
about a trial, either through our office or the Web (www.phoenixobgyn.com)
or (www.centerwatch.com),
patients are “screened” to determine if they meet the qualifications
for the study. PHOENIX strictly adheres to “Good
Clinical Practice” guidelines, which define the moral, ethical
and medical behavior of the investigator. This means that at PHOENIX your
health would never be compromised for the sake of a study.
Once screened, your participation may last anywhere from one week to
several years depending on the length of the trial. Some sponsors reimburse
volunteers for their time and travel expenses. This may vary from study
to study. Most patients volunteer as an alternative to routine treatment
options. Some may have failed prior therapies. Others patients volunteer
from the” heart” as a means of helping to advance medical
science. Most patients who volunteer for studies report tremendous satisfaction
in their participation. All research study visits take place in our Moorestown
office.
